Configurable Product Setup (Magento)

Our Tinx connector supports multiple product synchronization methods from Business Central (BC) to various webshops. Configurable products — items with multiple variants (such as different sizes, colors, or materials) — are just one of these options. In this article and demo, we focus on syncing configurable products using the component method with Magento, though the general approach applies equally to platforms like Shopify and WooCommerce.

Overview

Configurable products consist of a base product and its individual variants. With the component method, the connector creates the base product (the configurable product) and then links each of its variants (the components) together. This approach ensures that all product details remain consistent between BC and Magento, providing an efficient way to manage complex product offerings.

How It Works

1. Base Product & Components Setup
In BC, set up your configurable product along with its component items. The connector identifies the base product and its corresponding components.

2. Mapping & Configuration
Use the Tinx connector’s mapping configuration to define how the base product and its variants should be synced to Magento. This includes setting up key attributes and ensuring that the components are correctly linked.

3. Sync Process
The connector uploads the base product and its associated components to Magento. The configurable product is then created with its variations, allowing customers to select their desired option directly on the Magento storefront.

4. Ongoing Updates
Any changes made in BC to either the base product or its components are automatically updated in Magento, ensuring your catalog remains consistent and accurate.
