When Tinx Connector processes orders and products, errors can occur without any visible sign in Business Central. An order import might fail due to a missing SKU, or a product update might be rejected due to special characters in a field name. The connection to your webshop might also drop briefly during a platform update. Without a notification system, these issues go unnoticed until someone manually checks the synchronization ledger entries or a customer reports an unfulfilled order.
This article explains how to enable automated notifications and configure a notification template with filters, placeholders, and email content.
The Notification Center lets you set up automated email alerts that are triggered when the conditions you define are met. Configure which table to monitor, the filters and conditions that trigger a notification, and how often the check runs. When the conditions are met, the connector sends an email with information about the affected record, so you can investigate and resolve the issue. Enable notifications after go-live, when active order flow makes the alerts meaningful rather than noisy.
To set up the TINX Email Management job queue entry
To automatically send notifications, set the TINX Email Management job queue entry to Ready, and decide how often it runs.
Select Search (Alt+Q) in the upper-right corner, enter Job Queue Entries, and then choose the related link.
On the Job Queue Entries page, select the TINX Email Management job queue entry, and then choose the Edit action.
On the Job Queue Entry Card page, on the Recurrence FastTab, specify the Starting Time and Ending Time fields. These fields define the time range when email notifications should be sent.
-
Set the No. of Minutes between Runs field.
The field determines how quickly the system sends notifications after an event occurs. For example, if a webshop order is marked as failed, the system waits before sending the notification email.
Select the Set Status to Ready action to enable the job queue entry.
Without the job queue set to Ready, notification emails can be sent only manually using the Send E-mail action. For more information, see Job queues.
To set up a notification
Select Search (Alt+Q) in the upper-right corner, enter Notification Center, and then choose the related link.
-
On the Notification Center Card page, select New to create a new notification template, or select the relevant template, and then choose the Edit action. The following screenshot shows a notification included in the default mapping.
On the Notification Center Card page, on the General FastTab, create a unique Code and Description for this notification template.
Turn on the Active toggle.
Choose source tables (header/line tables) in the Source Table and Source Table No. Line fields. These tables contain the data you want to send notifications about.
-
Configure Field No. Mark as E-mailed that tracks email status, and a timestamp in Field No. for E-mail Date/Time.
Enter 171 (the Is E-mailed field) and 172 (the Date/Time E-mailed field) if you set up a notification for the webshop orders (table 11205270). Leave the fields blank if the corresponding table does not have the related fields or you don’t know the correct values. However, if you leave the field blank, Tinx Connector keeps sending notifications for the same record until you resolve the issue. For example, until the webshop order is successfully imported.
Optionally, on the Recurrence FastTab, set up recurrence options to control when notifications are sent. You can reduce how often Tinx Connector sends this notification. By default, the sending frequency is determined by the TINX Email Management job queue entry. For more information, see Recurrence.
On the E-mail FastTab, configure the email subject, the body content, and the sender/recipient addresses. Use the Email Account ID to specify which email account sends the notifications. For more information, see Set up email.
To combine multiple records into one email, rather than sending individual emails for each record, turn on the Send as Single E-mail toggle.
-
Define the filters on the Notification Center Lines FastTab.
Add filter conditions to select which records should trigger notifications. For example, filter by date to send only today’s orders. Specify Field No., Operator, for example =, and Field Value, for example TODAY. Then set Line Type to Filter.
-
Define the dynamic placeholders on the Notification Center Lines FastTab.
For fields you want to display in emails, set Field No. and Field Value as a placeholder, for example %1. Then set the Line Type field to Value. Use these placeholders in the message defined on the E-mail FastTab. They are replaced with actual field values when emails are sent.
The following screenshot shows an example of a notification template with filters and placeholders defined. If an order imported today (
Order Date = TODAY) has a status Failed to Import (Failed to Import = 1), an email is sent to the specified recipient. The email includes the order number (Entity ID) and the fault reason (Fault Reason). An example of a message generated with this setup is Order #12345 failed to import: NoSeries could not be defined!.To review emails sent with the Notification Center, choose the Open Sent Emails action on the Notification Center Card.
To access the legacy email notification setup
The Notification Center described in this article is the recommended way to set up notifications. The legacy version of email notifications is still available in Tinx Connector. The following procedure describes how to access the legacy email notification setup.
-
Select Search (Alt+Q) in the upper-right corner, enter E-Commerce Integration Setup, and then choose the related link.
If you don’t find E-Commerce Integration Setup in Search, sign in to Business Central with the TINX E-Com Admin role. Then on the Role Center page, select Setup, and then choose E-Commerce Integration Setup.
-
On the E-commerce Setup page, set up the fields on the E-mail Notification FastTab.
