Synchronize products with Amazon

Amazon sellers usually create and maintain their product listings in Seller Central, and one product can have more than one listing. For example, a product that you sell through both FBA and FBM often has a separate SKU for each fulfillment method. However, the product's ASIN stays the same. In Business Central, the same product is an item with its own item number.

Before Tinx Connector can turn Amazon orders into sales orders with the correct items, you must match each Amazon listing to a Business Central item. This link also ensures that the stock that you send to Amazon updates the correct listing. For this reason, import your Amazon listings and match them to your items before you start importing Amazon orders. For more information, see Synchronize orders with Amazon.

In this article, you learn how to import your Amazon listings into Business Central and link them to your items.

Products are usually managed in Amazon, which stays the source of truth for product data. Tinx Connector doesn't publish products from Business Central to Amazon by default. However, Tinx consultants can set up that process for you. For more information, contact the Tinx Sales Team.

Setting up product import

Product data reaches Business Central as an Amazon report, so it follows the same import and conversion steps as every other Amazon report. Those steps are explained in detail in a separate article. The following procedure covers only what's specific to importing products. For more information, see Import data from Amazon by using reports.

After the setup is complete, the process runs on its own. Message definitions and job queue entries download the report, convert it, and create the webshop products in Business Central.

To set up product import and create webshop products

  1. Request the product listing report from Amazon.

Run the AMZ-EU-IN-REPORT synchronization dashboard and activate the AMZ-SP-100 message definition. For more information, see Running synchronization dashboards and activating message definitions.

  2. Set a recurrence so the request doesn't run every time the job queue entry runs.

On the AMZ-SP-100 message definition, set the interval between runs, based on how soon you need new products in Business Central. For more information, see Choosing a recurrence for report requests.

  3. Create a job queue entry that downloads Amazon reports. The job queue entry runs the Amazon Reports Processing report 11205839.

  4. Create a job queue entry that converts the raw Amazon data imported by Amazon Reports Processing into a format that Business Central can read. The job queue entry runs the Amazon Inventory Listing-GET_FLAT_FILE_OPEN_LISTINGS_DATA report 11205849. The following screenshot shows the scheduled job queue entry.

  5. Review the imported data on the Webshop Products page.

Matching Amazon SKUs with Business Central items

The imported Amazon products are stored on the Webshop Products page. The next step after import is to match them with the Business Central items.

Use the same value for the item number in Business Central and the SKU in Amazon if you can. In practice, most companies use different values in the two systems. Often, an item is created in one system when it already exists in the other, so you must choose a method to match the two.

To set up the matching rules for Amazon products

  1. Select Search (Alt+Q) in the upper-right corner, enter Sales Channels, and then choose the related link.
  2. On the Sales Channel List page, select the Amazon sales channel, and then choose the Edit action.
  3. On the Amazon Settings FastTab, in the Amazon Product Import section, set up the fields. Hover over a field to read a short description. The following table includes additional guidelines for setting up the fields in the Amazon Product Import section.
Field Description
Item Identifier In most cases, enter seller-sku.
Field Type Select Item - Field No. or Magento SKU. If you select Item - Field No., select the appropriate item card field in the Item Field No. field.
Item Field No. In most cases, select 1 (the item number). Some companies use a custom field for Amazon products.
AMZ Split Inbound Value An underscore is one example of a splitter.
Reference Type (the option) If you turn on the Use Item Reference toggle, you can select one of the reference types.
Reference Type (the value) It gets the item number from that table, based on the lookup.

The following screenshot shows the simplest setup of the Amazon Product Import section, where the item numbers in Business Central exactly match the SKUs in Amazon. In this case, you don't need item references. Without this setup, the Webshop Products page isn't filled. That page is especially important for returns.
