Synchronize stock with Amazon

When you sell on Amazon, buyers see the available quantity of your products. For the items that you ship yourself, that quantity must match the stock in your own warehouse. If the quantity on Amazon is higher than your actual stock, you might need to cancel orders. Amazon tracks how often sellers cancel. If Amazon shows less, the listing appears out of stock while the goods are still on your shelves.

Items that Amazon stores and ships for you create a different problem. You can't count that stock yourself, but its value still counts as part of your inventory in Business Central. If the recorded quantity is wrong, your inventory value and your replenishment decisions are based on stock that isn't there.

This article explains how Business Central and Amazon exchange stock information for both fulfillment models.

Publishing FBM stock levels to Amazon

Most companies use Business Central as the source of truth for stock quantities. Message definitions related to stock synchronization are included in the AMZ-EU-OUT-ITEMS synchronization dashboard. Stock is published to Amazon by using feeds. For more information, see Export data to Amazon with feeds.

The AMZ-EU-OUT-ITEMS dashboard sends stock to Amazon only for FBM items. You can't use it for FBA. Sending stock to an Amazon warehouse is a different process. You create a shipment plan, then a fulfillment, in a sequence of about seven API calls. Tinx Amazon Connector requires adjustments developed according to your specific requirements to support that process. For more information, contact the Tinx Sales Team.

The following screenshot shows the AMZ-EU-OUT-ITEMS synchronization dashboard in the default mapping.

You can also update Amazon inventory in bulk. The following example request contains multiple product entries.

Correcting FBA stock differences

When you use FBA, you ship your goods to an Amazon warehouse, and Amazon ships them to the buyer. From the moment you ship your goods to the Amazon warehouse, Amazon holds the stock. The quantity that Amazon holds can differ from the quantity recorded in Business Central. Goods can be lost or damaged in the Amazon warehouse, and some might no longer be sellable.

Correcting FBA stock differences isn't part of every Tinx Amazon Connector installation. If you don't find the AMZ-EU-IN-INVENTORY dashboard in an environment that already runs Tinx Amazon Connector, contact the Tinx Support Team to have it added. If you don't use Tinx Amazon Connector yet, or you want to know whether stock synchronization is included in your license, contact the Tinx Sales Team.

Tinx Connector downloads the FBA inventory from Amazon so that you can compare it with the quantity in Business Central and align the two quantities if needed. For example, Business Central shows 300 pieces at Amazon. However, five of them are no longer sellable, so the real quantity is 295. You correct the difference with a negative adjustment in the item journal.

The AMZ-EU-IN-INVENTORY synchronization dashboard imports the inventory into Business Central. It contains two message definitions. AMZ-SP-018 downloads the FBA inventory summaries from Amazon, and AMZ-SP-019 creates negative adjustments on the Item Journal Lines page.

The following screenshot shows the dashboard with both message definitions.

The screenshot shows AMZ-NA-IN-INVENTORY, the dashboard that you use if you sell in North America. For synchronization dashboards, Tinx Amazon Connector uses different codes for each region: AMZ-EU for Europe, AMZ-NA for North America, and AMZ-FE for the Far East. Other codes are the same across all regions. For more information, see Amazon synchronization dashboard codes.

AMZ-SP-018 imports Amazon inventory into the Amazon FBA Inventory Summary page. The following screenshot shows items with values in the Total Unfulfillable Quantity field. That quantity needs a negative adjustment in the item journal.
