Use Tinx WooCommerce Connector to connect Business Central with your webshop. The end goal is to set up a connection that allows you to send data from Business Central to WooCommerce and to import data from WooCommerce to Business Central. To get there, you complete the following steps.
- Generate an API key in WooCommerce. In your WooCommerce backend, generate an API key that you'll enter in Business Central.
- Install Tinx WooCommerce Connector. Install the connector from AppSource and complete the initial setup in Business Central.
- Create and configure a WooCommerce sales channel. Create a new WooCommerce sales channel, then use the API key from step 1 to configure it in Business Central.
- Test the connection. Verify that Business Central can communicate with WooCommerce.
You can follow the steps in the following interactive walkthrough, or read the detailed instructions in the next sections of this article.
To generate an API key in WooCommerce
Log in to your WooCommerce backend.
Select Settings on the sidebar menu.
-
Copy the WordPress Address (URL). You need it to configure the WooCommerce sales channel in Business Central.
Select WooCommerce on the sidebar menu, and then select Settings.
On the Settings page, select the Advanced tab, and then select REST API.
-
In the REST API section, select the Add Key button.
In the Key details section, fill in the Description field, and set the Permissions field to Read/Write.
-
Select the Generate API Key button.
-
Copy the Consumer key and Consumer secret to a secure location. You need these values to configure the WooCommerce sales channel in Business Central.
The Consumer key and Consumer secret are displayed only once. If you lose them, you need to generate a new API key.
Whitelisting your test environment
If you use a WooCommerce test webshop that isn't publicly visible, for example to keep test data out of search engine results, you might need to whitelist your Business Central. Whitelisting lets it reach your webshop.

To create and configure a WooCommerce sales channel in Business Central
The following procedure is the minimum needed to establish the connection between Business Central and WooCommerce. It's enough if you're completing this procedure as part of the quickstart, or if you want only to test that the connection works. The sales channel setup includes many more areas. For more information, see Sales channel.
In Business Central, select Search (Alt+Q) in the upper-right corner, enter Sales Channels, and then choose the related link.
On the Sales Channel List page, choose the Webshop Connectors action in the New group.
On the Webshop Connectors Overview page, choose the New action, and then choose Create Sales Channel.
-
On the Start Assisted Setup page, in the Webshop Code field, choose WOOCOMMERCE, and then choose OK to create a sales channel.
Tinx Connector applies the default Sales Channel Code when you create the first sales channel. You can change the code later on the Sales Channel Card page.
If this is the first WooCommerce sales channel you create in Business Central, Tinx Connector downloads the default mapping for your webshop. The download can take a few minutes. For more information, see Default mapping.
When the download is complete, on the Sales Channel List page, select the newly created WooCommerce sales channel, and then choose the Edit action.
-
On the Sales Channel Card page, configure the necessary fields for your WooCommerce integration.
The following table describes the most important fields you need to fill in to set up the connection with WooCommerce.
Field Description Website Enter the full URL of your WooCommerce store. API Endpoint Tinx Connector automatically populates this field based on the Website field. Consumer Key Enter the Consumer key from WooCommerce. Consumer Secret Enter the Consumer secret from WooCommerce. -
Turn on the Active and Is Default toggles. For more information, see Is Default and Active toggles.
The following image shows the WooCommerce connection setup on the Sales Channel Card page.
To test the connection between Business Central and WooCommerce
Complete Part 3-5 of the Quickstart to test publishing items from Business Central to WooCommerce and downloading orders from WooCommerce to Business Central. For more information, see Quickstart: Part 3. Set the inbound and outbound job queue entries to Ready.
Monitoring WooCommerce API calls
For setup and testing, you can optionally install the free REST API Log plugin. It logs all incoming and outgoing REST API calls to and from WooCommerce. For more information, see REST API Log.
After installing and activating the plugin, select Tools on the sidebar menu, and then choose REST API Log to view the logs.
If this is your first time using Tinx WooCommerce Connector, finish the Quickstart first. After that, read Key concepts in Tinx Connector and the Business functionality section to understand the Tinx Connector core functionality, such as importing orders or publishing products. That functionality is common to all webshops. After you understand this core functionality, continue to the WooCommerce-specific articles that cover aspects unique to Tinx WooCommerce Connector.
