Synchronize FBA returns with Amazon and create sales return orders

With FBA, buyers send returned items to an Amazon warehouse, not to you. Amazon handles the return and refunds the buyer, so it records the return in Seller Central, not Business Central. Until you record the return in Business Central, your sales figures and stock records still show the original sale.

This article describes how to set up the import of Amazon FBA returns and how to create sales return orders based on the imported returns.

Setting up FBA return import

FBA return data reaches Business Central as an Amazon report, so it follows the same import and conversion steps as every other Amazon report. Those steps are explained in detail in a separate article. The following procedure covers only what's specific to importing FBA returns. For more information, see Import data from Amazon by using reports.

After the setup is complete, the process runs on its own. Message definitions and job queue entries download the report, convert it, and create the sales return orders in Business Central.

To set up FBA return import and create sales return orders

  1. Request the FBA returns report from Amazon.

Run the AMZ-EU-IN-REPORT synchronization dashboard and activate the AMZ-SP-101 message definition with Description set to Get FBA Returns Data. For more information, see Running synchronization dashboards and activating message definitions.

  2. Set a recurrence so the request doesn't run every time the job queue entry runs.

On the AMZ-SP-101 message definition, set the interval between runs. For example, set it to every 120 minutes. For more information, see Choosing a recurrence for report requests.

  3. Create a job queue entry that downloads Amazon reports.

Create a job queue entry for the Amazon Reports Processing report 11205839. For more information, see Use job queues to schedule tasks.

  4. Create a job queue entry that converts the raw Amazon data imported by Amazon Reports Processing into a format that Business Central can read.

Create a job queue entry for the Amazon FBA Order Return From Report GET_FBA_FULFILLMENT_CUSTOMER_RETURNS_DATA report 11205848.

On the Job Queue Entry Card page, on the action bar, in the Job Queue group, choose the Report Request Page action.

On the report request page for report 11205848, set the parameters that link the Amazon SKU to the Business Central SKU. You can do this by using Item Field for Mapping.

  5. Review the imported data on the Amazon Returns page (TINX Amazon Return Order table 11205374).

The Amazon Returns page holds return or refund data received from Amazon. Like the Amazon Orders page, it buffers returns imported from Amazon. Use this page to review return reasons and quantities.

  6. Convert Amazon returns into sales return orders in Business Central.

Run the AMZ-EU-IN-RETURNS synchronization dashboard and activate the AMZ-SP-106 message definition.
